The book opened at the front. The previous owner was clearly a big fan as it contains numerous contemp cutting. It reminded me of my Grandfathers collections of scrap books pertaining to his favourite composers. At a guess I’d say he was into Elgar above all others. He even had cutting pertaining to the debut of Gerontius at Birmingham Town Hall whcih is a fascinating story for those who have opinions about public arts funding and cities using the work of artists for political agendas – at which point i returned it to the packing it arrives in and resolved to continue my project pertaining to these matters with increased resolve. Sniffing a book can be a boon. But i can …. not. I am gonna scent a good book later. A happy one.
